Perfection is a moving bar. Your reach mere centimeters away, but just as you think you can grasp it, it slips away again. And again. And again. Someone told me once, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.” So let us do things differently.
From a young age my parents taught me how to think and act independently. A skill that equipped me with the resources needed to solve any problem. Since I was three years old, I let curiosity dictate my actions. I remember willingly spending hours with my father building plastic water bottle rockets, or miniature motorized boats, or even a full-sized go kart, the list goes on. Each novelty carrying its own lessons about physics and life. The fact that we can start with nothing, then build our way up to something spectacular is nothing short of magic; nothing is impossible, and I truly believe that.
I was lucky enough to travel around the world before Covid proved itself relevant. From visiting my grandparents in Moscow, to vacationing away on a beach in Barcelona, each year I found myself getting acclimated to new and exciting cultures. However, tasting the authentic Austrian food or losing myself in Tokyo’s mesmerizing city lights, no place has my heart like home. Big, red, Ocean, New Jersey. At the end of the day, it all means nothing if I can’t cherish the connections I make and grow with the people closest to me. Maybe together we can stumble upon that bar before we even know it.
